I have over 25 years of experience in education, including 18 years of leadership and advisory work in schools. I have led at school and trust leadership level across primary, secondary and special education, and in both inner city and suburban schools. I specialise in supporting trusts, schools and leaders in developing school systems: policy and strategy development, planning, monitoring and evaluation; curriculum and assessment design; teaching and learning; and literacy. I often work with schools in preparation for and as result of external visits; supporting leaders in showcasing their work and developing action plans to move forward.
Within my literacy leadership and advisory work, I have both led and supported senior leaders and literacy leads on the design and implementation of whole school literacy development plans for a range of schools with very different literacy needs. I have led whole school and trust INSET including delivering keynotes and conferences; supported middle leaders in integrating subject-specific literacy development into their curriculum design; and trained subject teachers in implementing literacy strategies in the classroom. I am an expert in teenage reading support and am a founder member of the Teenage Reading network, have worked on reading projects for GL Assessment and the DfE, and have also led on oracy and writing, ensuring pupils working at all levels of literacy proficiency have development opportunities.
I am based in West London and offer educational advisory services to within a 1.5 hour commuting distance.
