Literacy
Good literacy for staff and students is essential for success in any school. As well as a focus on spelling and grammar, literacy encompasses all the skills required to read, write and speak with fluency. In the last two years, Ofsted have placed a renewed focus on literacy, detailing its importance in both pupil achievement and progress.
Whilst it’s a given that without basic literacy skills, pupils fail to access the curriculum; it is also essential that the highest achieving students have a wide knowledge of text types, reading strategies and oral skills to enable them to achieve top grades.
I can offer bespoke literacy courses for those teaching at all levels of attainment, as well as courses for staff whose poor literacy skills impact on their teaching, or who need a ‘refresher’ course to refine their communication skills.
